Storytime Video: Grandpa Ivy’s River Adventure

purple day stories & storytelling

What if you and your child could start your day with something calm and connecting instead of chaos and commotion? How we start our day matters, and Storytime in the Schoolhouse has your back!
It’s truly amazing how much one consistent moment of connection can positively impact the rest of your day with your young child.
Start your day with Storytime and enjoy the story of Grandpa Ivy’s River Adventure–a sweet and silly story about a group of friends who try to squeeze into a raft together.

I love to float down the river near my home in western North Carolina. I often see animals on the river's edge, many of them looking at me curiously as I float past.

When I wrote this story, I imagined the same river with its huge turn and all the animals that live along its banks.

Story: Grandpa Ivy’s River Adventure, by Becca Lane

One hot morning, Grandpa Ivy wakes up and realizes it’s a perfect day to float down the river in his raft.

As he floats down the river, he passes the homes of many of his friends: Little Frog, Little Mouse, Little Squirrel, Little Deer, and Little Bear. One by one, his friends join him on his raft until it is full! As they go around a final turn before Grandpa Ivy’s home, the raft topples over and sends them all into the river laughing!

Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream
